Our family went to the zoo two years ago, and one of the exhibits was a beautiful white tiger. Of course, he was behind a protective glass but in his natural plains setting.
The tiger was lying right up at the glass, looking out at the human zoo. My husband stood there and stared right into that tiger’s eyes, feeling safe because of the glass. He wasn’t making monkey faces at him or holding a piece of food. He was just standing there, holding eye contact with this tiger. The tiger just laid there and stared right back at my husband, seemingly complacent. However, as soon as my husband turned his back, the tiger leapt at him, smacking himself into the glass. It was like the speed of a snake strike, awesome to witness. If the protective glass hadn’t been there, my husband would have been devoured. I wish I had a video of it, but I will always have the memory.
I have a tendency to draw correlations between nature and Biblical teachings/concepts. For those of you who may not be aware, there is a verse in the Bible that states:
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. – 1 Peter 5:8 – 9
So from this scripture and from our family day at the zoo, here is a short list of do’s and don’ts I have compiled about dealing with the devil.

I’m so happy you included, “Don’t taunt the devil.” Sometimes I hear people yelling at the devil and taunting him and I always want to show them how God dealt with him in Job. Satan came in with the angels. There was no yelling or screaming. There was civilized conversation and God was helpful to him. He didn’t have to assert His authority. Satan knew his place.
